A Glimpse into my Music Career
Below are just a few of the many transcriptions and arrangements I've done early in my music career. Unless otherwise noted, ALL of these transcriptions were done by ear, only with the aid of a keyboard for initial pitch identification. They were all put together using Finale music notation software by MakeMusic, Inc. The audio for each tune was created with computer-generated instrument sounds from within the program.
Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
I've always thought that the intro to this song was amazing, so I decided to transcribe and arrange it just for the fun of it. I hope it can be played live some day so I can hear how it really sounds. (2009)
Viva la Vida by Coldplay
This was requested by a local high school pep band during my undergrad to be played at basketball games. (2009)
Enter Sandman by Metallica
This was requested by a local high school pep band during my undergrad to be played at basketball games. (2009)
I've got Rhythm by George Gershwin
This arrangement was done for a class assignment in my undergraduate String Methods class. I used a score from a choral arrangement to arrange it for a string quartet. (2008)
If I Fall by Amber Pacific
One of my favorite bands in high school was Amber Pacific, and I thought the piano part to this song was absolutely beautiful. I guess you could say I have a little bit of a sensitive side... So, I began transcribing it by hand, eventually putting it into Finale. I later learned to play it from memory, with a little motivation from my girlfriend at the time (awww). (2006)
William Tell Overture by Gioacchino Rossini
I did this arrangement for two classmates of mine during my senior year of high school. I transcribed and arranged it from a choral recording by my high school's choir. It is a clarinet duet which was performed as part of our spring concert in a bit featuring sections of the band. (2005)
Super Mario Bros by Nintendo
I transcribed/arranged this piece for my percussion section which was played at our Spring concert (I played the xylo part!). Being one of my first arrangements, the notation is somewhat non-traditional and "amateur." (2005)
Anthem by Good Charlotte
This is one of the first full band arrangements I completed. It was played at a number of basketball games as a pep band tune during my junior year of high school. (2004)
